A Day in the Life of a Spiro Account Executive
Working a job you hate is just about the worst thing you can do to yourself. Yet, it seems like most of the people I know are doing exactly that. As a Spiro AE, I am lucky to say that I truly love and believe in the company I work for. Here’s a day in the life of a Spiro Account Executive.
Arriving at the Office
I never used to be a morning person, until I started working at Spiro. Now, mornings are one of my favorite times of the day. When I arrive at the office, I make myself a nice cup of coffee (or if I’m feeling fancy, a latte using our espresso maker), and catch up with my desk mates for a couple minutes before starting to make calls.
Organizing my Day
Before I start working, I take a few minutes to get organized and set up my day. I like to plan out exactly what I will be doing, and when. I always check Spiro’s Proactive Relationship Management Platform to see who I am supposed to follow up with that day, and build my plan around that.
Preparing for Calls
Before I even pick up the phone, there’s a lot of work to be done. I’m a people-person. I like to develop relationships with people, and to really get to know them. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to keep track of snippets of information about all the people I speak with, whether that be their love of golf, their kids’ names, or their favorite sports team. Luckily, Spiro makes it super easy to keep track of this information, and pull it up anytime I need it.
Catching Up with Clients
I can’t believe that I actually get to talk to people I like all day, and get paid for it. I’m constantly checking in on our current customers and working to maintain relationships. Sure, we spend time talking about their satisfaction with the product and their needs, but I also get to hear about their families, their vacations, and just about everything else happening in their lives. I think it’s really important to connect with people on a personal level.
Lunch
Even as the company grows, we have made it a point to constantly interact with and catch up with one another. For lunch, I like to go on a quick walk with one of the other AEs and grab some food, then we head back to the kitchen to eat with everyone. Usually lunch is a time where we all de-stress a bit and crack a few jokes.
Demos
Spiro alerts me when it’s time for me to do a product demo, so I never have to worry about missing one. When the demo is booked, it is automatically logged into the platform, along with the contact info for the person I am demoing to. This makes my life pretty stress-free. I love doing demos because I get the chance to show people how Spiro can help target their unique needs, and I get to talk about how awesome the product really is.
Closing Deals
Of course, one of the most important things I do is actually close deals. This is made a whole lot easier by the fact that I’m selling a product as great as Spiro’s Proactive Relationship Management Platform. We even have a tiny gong in the office for when someone closes a big deal. I love that we all celebrate our accomplishments together, and that we’ve kept traditions like these even as we continue to grow.
After Work
Even after the workday is over, I often find myself hanging out with the same people I just spent 8 hours with. If that’s not a testament to the quality of the people I work with, I don’t know what is. Some of my best friends are people I met working at Spiro. We even have a dedicated “Spiro Food Club” that goes around the city exploring new restaurants!
And, if this all sounds great to you, you should check out Spiro’s current job postings! Hopefully I’ll see you around the office soon.
