Why You Should Email Your Prospects on Thanksgiving
If you’re reading this blog in US, then I’d like to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re enjoying a much needed day off from sales.
But don’t put on those stretchy pants, eat too much turkey, and fall asleep on your deals just yet. You see, Thanksgiving is actually a great day to reach out to your prospects. And it will only take a few minutes if you’re using an easy-to-use AI-Powered CRM, like Spiro.
Why, you ask? Well, for two reasons. First, you should take the chance to shoot off a quick email to your prospects with a word of thanks. Let them know how much they are appreciated and how thankful you are to have them as a customer or potential client. And secondly, use this as an opportunity to find your prospects’s phone number.
Let me explain that second part…
One of your top challenges as a salesperson can be getting the right phone number to actually reach your prospects. I received so many emails asking about this topic, that we wrote a blog in response: 10 Ways to Find Your Prospect’s Phone Number.
So how do you do this on Thanksgiving?
The Out of Office Email Trick
Let’s say you have a solid prospect that you have been going after for awhile, but you still only have their email address and perhaps a main phone line. You want to be able to switch up the ways you are communicating with them, and have been trying to subtly get their mobile number…without any luck.
Well, here’s a true story of how I stumbled upon this trick by accident.
One Friday evening, I sent an email out to a prospect and they had their email auto-responder already set for the weekend. The message I received back ended with “…and if you need to reach me, you can call me on my cell at 888-555-1212.” I couldn’t believe my eyes! I had gotten their mobile number without any effort. I quickly jotted down their digits and was ready on Monday morning to try them on their cell.
Since everyone in the US is off on Thanksgiving day, it’s a great day to put this method to the test. So before you settle into that second turkey drumstick, go send off some emails. You can thank me later!
The Thankful Message to Email Your Prospects on Thanksgiving
So what should you say when trying to slyly get your prospect’s cell number? Make the message all about thanking them. Don’t try to push your product or close a deal. A sincere word of appreciation will go a long way. You’ll also stand out from your competitors by sending them a message of good thoughts outside the normal Christmas and New Year’s times.
Try an email like this:
Dear Sally,
I wanted to send you a message on this day of thanks to let you know that I am thankful for the opportunity to work with people like you. I hope you are enjoying this wonderful holiday and I look forward to talking with you soon.
Wishing you, and yours, a day full of peace and bounty.
Happy Thanksgiving!
From all of us at Spiro, to all of our US readers, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. We’re grateful for readers like you! (And of course to our subscribers all around the world, we’re thankful you’re reading as well.)
